Too Deceived to Believe God in 2019?

December 30, 2018 Dr. Paulette Boston

“Oh me, oh my! I don’t know what to believe.” This is the state of mind many of us find ourselves when trying to decipher the enemy’s believable illegal suggestions (lies) from what saith the Lord. We know God cannot lie; yet we’ll give a demon’s lie—thought. I’m sure this deceitful spirit views our gullibility like taking candy from a baby.

Why do we struggle so hard to believe our loving Father over the preposterous falsehoods that float in and out of our heads? Is it because we feel God’s love, mercy, and grace doesn’t include us? Or could it be for some other deceiving notion? Whatever the reason, we bought the lie.

Why is that?

I know this isn’t everybody’s problem. Some people have the discernment to say, “Get thee behind me, Satan.” Then there are the rest of us who will mull over, rationalize, and contemplate hell’s propaganda as “truth.”

If I don’t expect anything good, then I won’t be disappointed when good doesn’t happen.

What a waste of faith!

Human nature has the tendency of shielding the mind from letdowns; making walking by faith seem like stepping into a black hole of disappointments. But when we align ourselves with God’s will, there are no disappointments.

Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:4-5)

Liars lie—that’s what they do—just that simple!

Deception is not deception if it fails to deceive. Take a moment and think: What lies have you bought lately? WAIT! I really want you to stop and think about that. Don’t drag the enemy’s garbage into this brand new year. Instead of hauling in his mess, use your faith to internalize the Truth in 2019.

The devil said:                                                      But God said:

  • You are afraid.                                            I didn’t tell you that. (2 Timothy 1:7)
  • Nobody can love you.                                 I love you. (John 3:16)
  • You don’t have enough.                             Try Me. (Malachi 3:10)
  • Defend yourself.                                         I will defend you.  (Romans 12:19)
  • You have so many problems.                    Give Me your problems. (1 Peter 5:7)
  • You can’t make it.                                      My grace is sufficient. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?
(Numbers 23:19 NIV)
