The Right to Bear Arms

June 25, 2017 Dr. Paulette Boston

There are endless heated disputes over what the forefathers meant when they attached the Second Amendment (right to bear arms) to the Constitution. Those controversies have caused serious rifts in our democracy as many have tried to interpret this amendment from a modern day perspective. Come on—really? I doubt very seriously that in the 1700s the writers of the Constitution could have comprehended the types of weapons we have on the streets today.

But—I’m going to leave that subject for others to debate because my writing is not about any man-made weapons or man-made laws. Jesus came to earth in a human body, died on a cross, rose from the grave, and because He lives, Christians have the right to walk in the power of His might. I want to talk about God’s arsenal!

The most powerful weapon ever known can be carried into any public building or open arena—no surveillance cameras will ever detect.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) (II Corinthians 10:3, 4)

No foe can overpower this protective armor.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Ephesians 6:11-13)

God’s weapons will nullify any form of weaponry.

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. (Isaiah 54:17)

Who in their right mind would dare come against God’s army of angels?

For He will command His angels in regard to you, To protect and defend and guard you in all your ways [of obedience and service]. They will lift you up in their hands, So that you do not [even] strike your foot against a stone. (Psalm 91: 11,12) AMP)

The Holy Spirit is forever watching!

“Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” (I Chronicles 16:22 AMP)

Yes, the United States Constitution gives its citizens the right to bear man-made arms. But through Jesus’ resurrection, believers have the right to bear unparalleled, incomparable, all powerful loving arms that the world knows nothing about.
