Strike a match and watch it glow. Just think how one small match can change a situation substantially—if ignited. Strike your faith and watch it glow! Think how one smidgen of faith can change a situation substantially—if ignited.
Praying with flaming faith!
To ignite your faith means you put a demand on it—it’s pumped to the height of your scope to believe. That’s when you pray with conviction, fervency, passion, and focus. You are suited-up and ready to fight spiritually. (Ephesians 6:10-18) Any opposition that will dare come near you is consumed by your resolve to believe God. Flaming faith gets results.
What fuels flaming faith?
Alarming circumstances usually fuels flaming faith. When the need cuts deeply and punctures the depths of the heart, the flames flutter. Christians can’t ignore this fluttering pull to pray because they know when faith is ignited—things change!
Many of us have witnessed drop to your knees—call on the mercy of God situations. Praying and believing that God’s will—will be done while we are being obedient to His Word, fans the flames. (See last week’s blog: Do You Have Jesus’ Ear?)
What does a match and faith have in common?
Both a match and faith show their strength and power by fire. When they are rubbed against rough contrasting conditions, fire emerges. I don’t know of anyone who wants to go through flammable trials. I sure don’t! Yet, there’s no way to escape tribulations. (John 16:33) If we think about it, after we endure hardships we become closer to God. We learn more about His love, faithfulness, and power for the next go around.
We mature spiritually from faith to faith. In other words, we don’t come out empty handed if we put our trust in God to see us through difficult times. Look for the diamonds in all the debris.
However, if we never come in contact with any rough surfaces our faith won’t grow no more than a smooth surface will ignite a match.
It makes one wonder:
Is faith for our tribulations or are tribulations for our faith? Hmmm!
