This nation is split in every way imaginable because the Church (the body of Christ) gradually strayed away from God’s Word. Just like erosion secretly formed the Grand Canyon, the Church let herself be eroded by the ways of this world. This once unnoticeable fissure has now developed into an apparent Split.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).
The Church is the light and salt of the world (Matthew 5:13-16). Therefore, by faith, Jesus expects her to continue the mission until He returns. But over time, she expected the world to do the job for her. Of course, the world gladly accepted the role of leading. As a result, the Church leans more toward human logic, selfish agendas, and petty emotions—far away from what saith the Lord.
- If we had only obeyed Matthew 22:36-40, we wouldn’t be in this fix.
Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
- If we had only taken Proverbs 16:18-19 literally before thinking, we’re above reproach.
Pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before a fall.19 Better poor and humble than proud and rich. (LAB)
- Surely, we didn’t read Matthew 25:40 and still think the poor and needy are expendable.
. . . Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
- Mark 8:36 warned us not to run after earthly treasures; by heavens standards—junk.
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
- In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus gave us a “To-Do List” that He commands us to do before His sudden return.
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (NIV)
The world can’t repair this split, but the Church can.
