Drip!
Drip!
Drip!
Drop!
Drops here and there no big deal—at first. Who can’t handle a few little drops? However, if we don’t find a way to control those small droplets, they can accumulate; and if in the wrong places, could cause substantial damage. For example, if we don’t take care of that small leak in the roof, while it’s a small leak in the roof, the moisture will eventually rot the wood; and cause the whole structure to cave-in. Likewise, sometimes the problems we face in life are because we neglected them while they were yet small.
It’s easier to discipline an eighteen month old baby than a teenager.
Let’s look at this from a spiritual position. If we aren’t vigilant, the devil will take his time and secretly weasel himself into our lives. He has studied us; he knows our vulnerable areas where he can reign. He knows who he can pounce on suddenly; and who he must approach gradually—just a few digestible drops of iniquity at a time.
Boil the frog slow———ly!
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1 Peter 5:8)
Personalized temptations!
No one is immune to the devil’s deceitful-seductive drops of temptation; and if you think otherwise, you are helping to complete his plan. Those drops of iniquity are customized; what lures one person, might not lure another. A temptation that doesn’t tempt isn’t a temptation.
Know this: Drops of temptation will come; we all have areas where we struggle. That’s why we shouldn’t point fingers when people fall into dire places. Sometimes they don’t even realize they’ve fallen into a trap. Therefore, instead of talking about them, we should pray for them to at least become aware of what’s going on.
Today them—tomorrow you?
But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. (1 Corinthians 15:10)
Drop control:
I tell my readers it’s important to spend quality one-on-one time with God. I say this so much that I asked God, “Why do you want me to keep repeating the same thing?”
God relayed this to me: I want you to keep repeating this because too many of My people who say they love Me, won’t spend personal time with Me. They haven’t received the revelation that developing a quality relationship with Me is the answer to all their problems. Learning Who I am will build their faith; while they lean on My faithfulness. It’s in My presence where they will find:
- Peace beyond understanding (Philippians 4:7)
- The secret place (Psalm 91)
- Mountains thrown into the sea (Mark 11:23)
- Me in troubled times (Psalm 138:7)
Until then,
