There are people who think they can’t hear from God. Well look around, God is talking—right now! The devastation hitting us today come in record breaking proportions. You might not live in a hurricane alley, or on an earthquake fault, perhaps your cry is personal and not on a worldwide stage. Whichever way, God is speaking to us all; no one is exempt. I think you have to be living under a rock on a deserted island not to realize something unusual is going on.
This is not the time to stick our heads in the sand and pretend like nothing strange is happening. Pleading ignorance will not excuse the responsibility that is tied to God’s message.
God’s voice is e-c-h-o-i-n-g around the world: Get ready!
This week marks the catastrophic disaster of 9-11. Right after this tragedy people had an ear to hear a word from God. The problem was as soon as things appeared to have claimed down and business went back to normal, that desire to listen and obey God wasn’t as intense—for many.
The real test is in the calm.
After we go through a test and things claim down, that’s when the second half of the test starts. Part two can sometimes be harder than part one. In part one, God had our undivided attention when life was crushing down. We clutched tightly to Him as our Savior. We prayed endlessly as we committed to live our lives according to His Word. The question is: Can we remain faithful to the promises that we pledged after things calm down?
Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value]. (Colossians 3:2 AMP)
“Lord, what are you saying to me—personally?”
A practical suggestion:
At the end of your day before you go to bed, spend some personal quiet time with God. Rethink your day and see if there were any times that God was speaking to you. Ask Him, “What are You saying to me? Did I miss your promptings?” After you ask the questions, don’t forget to listen for the answers. The answers might come to you in a gut feeling, in a thought, in His Word, etc. One thing is for sure, God message is the same: I Am coming back!
(2 Peter 2:10; 1Thessalonians 5:1-4)
God is speaking are you listening?
