We handle the things that we cherish with care; especially things we got by making heart-rending sacrifices. I put my relationship with God into that category. Every gut-wrenching sacrifice I made in order to be obedient to God shouldn’t be tossed around and taken for granted, because the devil is waiting to snatch what I’m building—down!
Treat with kid gloves!
A spiritual leader told me when a person turns away from God—then decides to return back to Him, might find it difficult to just pick-up where they left off. By faith of course, once they repented they were forgiven immediately; but forgiving oneself is the hardest part. The enemy will use guilt and condemnation hoping they will focus on how far they have fallen. He will take his unaware victims on a guilt trip using any means necessary to kill any spiritual growth they obtained in the past.
Treat with extreme care.
We must not fall for any of his compromises and deals in exchange for our right standing with God. The world offers glitter and glam; little do they know it’s worthless junk. What we have through Christ is invaluable, therefore, it must be treated as such.
In Philippians 3:12-14, Paul reminded us that we are to press forward.
Not that I have already obtained it [this goal of being Christlike] or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that I may take hold of that [perfection] for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. None of us will be perfected on earth, however, we must keep moving forward; and handle what we have achieved through Jesus Christ with care.
