The Lord’s promises came through for His children in the past and will come through again. They have memories (mental receipts) of God’s faithfulness, and each triumph builds confidence, strengthening their faith until it becomes an armory to be reckoned with—only the enemy gains when believers encounter memory loss of previous victories.
Your faithfulness endures to all generations;
You established the earth, and it abides. (Psalm 119:90 NKJV)
Never forget what the Lord has done!
When God stopped the flow of the Jordan River so the Israelites could cross over on dry land, He instructed them to place twelve stones in the river to memorialize this miraculous miracle (see Joshua 4:1-23).
When David had to combat the Amalekites, I’m sure he remembered how God delivered him from lions, bears, and Saul numerous times (see 1 Samuel 24:1-13, 30:1-8). So, when the Lord told David to pursue and overtake the enemy, those past victories must have strengthened and encouraged him, and we must do the same.
Give God a celebration of praise and worship.
I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth (Psalm 34:1 KJV).
Therefore, we must pull out our receipts when the devil floods our minds with lies and discouragement. But if we really want the devil to flee in a hurry, start praising God and testify to others about how He came through for you before and that He will do it again.
Encore! Encore! Encore!
