Sometimes we have to come face-to-face with truth: Does my lifestyle match my prayer requests? We can ask God for whatever we please. Nevertheless, how can we expect Him to move giant mountains in our lives if we’re not willing to make personal sacrifices for Him? Our willingness to obey God, or not, has a profound impact on our faith to believe that He will answer our prayers.
Is your prayer request worth the sacrifice?
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)
No one is perfect; we have all fallen short of the glory of God. However, God knows our hearts and He knows His Word. Therefore, He knows how much of His Word we are willing to obey. If we think God will bring His standards down to accommodate our way of living—well, think again. God’s Word won’t conform to our lifestyle; instead, our lifestyle must conform to His Word.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
(Matthew 6:33 NIV)
God is the same One Who prevented three men from burning in a furnace; He is the same One Who knocked Goliath’s head off; and He is the same One Who awakened Sarah’s dead womb. Those miracles were done for people who had more than just a causal superficial relationship with Him. God has the same miraculous power today as He had in the beginning. . . And furthermore, He is willing to perform mighty miracles for us. God can do exceedingly abundantly above anything that we could ever ask for. (Ephesians 3:20) The question that we have to ask:
Does my lifestyle match my prayer requests?
