“Somebody ought to do something about that!” If you look in the mirror, you’ll see exactly who that somebody is. We see a lot of things going on in the world that’s contrary to God’s will; yet many of those things go unchallenged. It’s as though God’s people are sleep. I’m not saying everybody is sleep, but too many of us are. A good example was when prayer was taken out of the schools.
How’s that working out? Hmmm!
We, as Christians, are foreigners on earth—just passing through. Our residence is where our Lord resides. However, while we are traveling through this foreign land, we are God’s ambassadors; He makes His appeals through us. (2 Corinthians 5:17-21) We are the ones to implement His mission.
We have been given special assignments from our Master.
The enemy of God is not going to let us go about doing God’s will without obstruction; that’s his assignment—to put us to sleep. We don’t have to think too hard to figure out what he’s doing while we are in a deep slumber. He’s deleting everything associated with God and replacing it with his evil agenda; all the while daring God’s people to do anything about it.
Christians have rights too!
That dare shouldn’t stop us; not when we have the power of the Holy Spirit within us. But if we don’t believe the power is operating through us, then we won’t have the faith to stand up and proclaim the things of God.
Wake up—do something—say something.
Whenever iniquity agitates our spirit, that’s probably God nudging us to wake up—do something—say something. When we see these things taking place, we shouldn’t just say: Oh my God! Instead, we should go to our prayer corners, closets, or wherever and ask the Holy Spirit: Are you assigning me to this situation? If so, spark my faith and give me the wisdom to do what You want done.
We should be the ones driving—not sleeping!
